1) What a digi tech does (and why it matters)

A digital technician is the connective tissue between camera, client and post. On today’s sets, the role protects your shoot from avoidable risk and accelerates approvals.

For producers: predictable workflow, verified backups, clean handoff for post.
For photographers/DPs: stable tether, fast review, color accuracy you can trust.
For clients/agencies: calibrated viewing, structured selects, decisions made sooner.

Core outcomes we own:

  • Tethered capture that’s rock-solid and cable-managed.

  • Live review on calibrated reference displays for confident sign-off.

  • Color-managed pipeline aligned with your look and deliverables.

  • Redundant backups with copy/verify logs and tidy folder structures.

  • Delivery in the exact format your team needs, right away.

2) Typical gear list (what we bring)

We scale the workstation to the job—editorial, fashion/beauty, advertising, e-comm or lookbooks.

  • Workstation: mobile digi cart or compact station for tight locations.

  • Capture: Mac-based tethering (Capture One / Lightroom as required).

  • Displays: calibrated reference monitors (e.g., EIZO-class) with anti-glare shades for consistent viewing.

  • Tethering: high-integrity USB-C/Thunderbolt cables, strain relief, spares.

  • Backup: dual-destination ingest, checksum verification, daily clones.

  • Power & I/O: conditioned power, hubs, card readers (CFexpress/SD etc.).

  • Client review: secondary screen or wireless mirroring when useful.

  • Data handoff: encrypted SSDs or secure cloud handoff as agreed.

  • Quality of life: cable runs, labelling, file-naming presets, shot notes.

Prefer your own kit? We can incorporate some of your gear into the shoot—just share specs during pre-pro.

3) Rates & packages (transparent structure)

Every project is different, so we keep it simple:

  • Day rate (labour): Covers on-set digital technician services (10-hour day common; overtime thereafter).

  • Kit fee: Calibrated monitor(s), workstation, tether, backup media, accessories.

  • Travel/transport: If outside central Barcelona or with larger rigs.

  • Data handoff media: Client-kept SSDs are billed at cost (or bring your own).

  • Prep/tech scout (optional): Recommended for complex multi-location days.

Share your schedule, locations, crew size and deliverables—we’ll quote all-in with clear overtime and contingencies so there are no surprises.

4) On-set workflow: from tether to delivery

Before the shoot

  • Pre-pro call to confirm look, color targets, file naming, folder trees, and delivery method.

  • Gear checklist and contingency plan (spares, weather, power).

  • If needed, test with the photographer to lock the pipeline.

Shoot day

  1. Setup & test: color check, focus checks, exposure baselines.

  2. Capture: stable tether with real-time review for photographer and client.

  3. QC: sharpness, exposure, skin tones; quick notes for retouch.

  4. Backups: dual-destination with verification; interim clones at breaks.

  5. Selects/review: if requested, we mark/tag and export proofs for client sign-off.

Wrap & delivery

  • Verified master, working copy, and client delivery package (as agreed).

  • Hand off to drive (yours or ours) and/or secure cloud.

  • Delivery report including structure, counts and checksums where relevant.

5) Color management for UK/FR/DE/US teams

We align with your post-production from the start:

  • Targets: neutral reference or creative LUTs per photographer/brand.

  • Displays: calibrated to a documented target; environment controlled with shades to reduce flare.

  • Exports: proofs/contacts for client review; finals as masters or session handoff for retouch.

  • Naming & metadata: job code, date, set/look, model/talent, usage notes.

  • Hand-off etiquette: email wrap report + drive/cloud delivery link so overseas teams (UK/FR/DE/US) can pick up instantly.

6) How we integrate with production companies

We frequently slot into local service producers or international teams:

  • Clear division of responsibilities (permits, transport, crew vs. data).

  • Shared call sheet details (access, power, Wi-Fi, holding, shade).

  • Sync with camera/lighting so load-ins and tests don’t block picture.

  • Client comms: calm, clear, bilingual; we keep decision-makers informed.

If you’re still hunting for locations or assistants, see our companion guide: Barcelona Locations, Permits & Assistants →

7) Booking checklist & lead times

  • Shoot dates, locations, crew size, vehicle access.

  • Camera system & tether port, capture software preference.

  • Monitor count and viewing layout (photographer/client).

  • File-naming rules, folder tree, export formats.

  • Delivery method (drives, cloud, both).

  • Security/NDAs and any brand protocols.

Lead time: Spring (Mar–May) and Autumn (Sep–Nov) are busiest—lock your digi early.

8) FAQs

Can you provide the workstation and monitors?
Yes—our kit covers calibrated monitors, workstation, tethering and backups. We can also run your gear.

Do you travel outside Barcelona?
We cover greater Catalonia and can travel further; we’ll quote transport accordingly.

Which software do you use?
Capture One or Lightroom depending on photographer preference; we’ll confirm versions in pre-pro.

Can you deliver to our retouch team the same day?
Yes—via client-kept SSDs and/or secure cloud transfer, with a wrap report.

Can you liaise with our London/Paris/Berlin/New York/LA producers?
